Mysore: All levels welcome including complete beginners. Students practice what they know of the series and teacher assists each person individually.

Led Primary Series:Instruction on postures will be limited. If you are not familiar with the entire series, you are welcome to attendand practice as is appropriate,then sit and observe.* (this is a hard class, but come try it.)

Ashtanga Basics (Intro class/newbie): Fundamentals of Ashtanga Yoga: suryanams; standing poses a few seated with a focus on basic skills and fundamental postures.

Self Practice: open studio for ashtangis to practice together. no teacher/instructor.

Suzanne is also an AmSAT certified ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE teacher-a very effective movement based theory to help your dynamic alignment to reduce fatique, injury and pain.

PARKING
Park in back on left side of driveway where you see BLUEmarkers. Pull all the way up to the tall drainage pipe planters to have room to back up when you leave. There is space for 5 cars there. You can also park along side porch of house, room for about 3 cars, or anywhere up and down the street in the marked spots. The RED marked spaces belong to our neighbors.

Suzanne Faulkner's bio

Suzanne Faulkner began practicing yoga in 1990 and Ashtanga yoga in 1993 when she moved to Durham NC. For the first five years, her teachers were the women she practiced with: Nancy Holliman, Kathy Hallen (now owner and director of Ride the Breath yoga studio), and Patricia Mickleberry. The group practiced together anywhere and everywhere and this informal Mysore group was the laboratory in which they investigated the sequence and practiced giving and receiving adjustments. The group built momentum, and Nancy opened the YogaSpot, in 1999, the only Ashtanga based studio in the area. During the nearly ten years YogaSpot was open, this same core group of ashtangis, including Suzanne, taught and took classes, and hosted multiple workshops with touring senior teachers such as Tim Miller, Annie Pace, David Williams, David Swenson, David Keil and David Garrigues. Suzanne is greatly in debt to Annie Pace, the first certified teacher who provided the knowledge-base and support she needed for the first decade of practice.

When YogaSpot closed in 2008, Suzanne opened Ashtanga Yoga Club Durham on January 1st 2009, after teaching in the front room of her home for some months.

Suzanne now looks to David Garrigues as her Ashtanga teacher, from whom she receives invaluable, ongoing guidance regarding her practice and her teaching.
